2 million methamphetamine pills seized at Thai-Myanmar border

Thai police seized about two million methamphetamine pills from drug smugglers on February 14 near Thailand’s northern border with Myanmar.

Police Colonel Panudet Boonruang said on February 15 that Thai authorities arrested three smugglers after chasing two pickup trucks near the Thai-Myanmar border in Chiang Rai province on Thursday night, The Wall Street Journal said.

Similarly, on January 16, three drug smugglers were killed and 1.2 million methamphetamine pills were seized by Thai authorities in a clash between a group of drug smugglers and Thai combined military-police drug suppression unit of the Pha Muang Force in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai province, according to a report of Thailand-based Bangkok Post.

And on January 6, five drug smugglers from a Lahu group carrying amphetamine pills to Thailand were killed and more than 200,000 pills were seized in the clash between the group and a Thai security force.
