The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov called for an end to international sanctions on Burma when he met with President Thein Sein in Naypyitaw on Wednesday.

“There is no justification for any kind of sanctions under the current conditions,” Lavrov is reported as saying by news agency UPI at a press conference following the meeting.

The two sides also reportedly discussed fostering amity and friendship between the two countries; human resources development; technology and cooperation in research in health and education.
