Malaysian-based fast food chain Marrybrown has signed a deal with a local company to open 20 restaurants in Burma over the next five years, reported Malaysian news agency Bernama on Thursday.
"We are the first international fast food company to operate in Myanmar," said the group managing director, Nancy Liew. "We see high demand for our products there and we expect our operations there to run smoothly."
Marrybrown has built a reputation for its halal and rice-based fast food products and operates more than 400 restaurants in 15 countries across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The first 6,000 square foot restaurant will open in Rangoon in the near future.
