Aircraft frame and ware houses to be auctioned

Dhaka (Mizzima) – The frame of an aircraft that had crash landed and old ware houses will be auctioned by authorities in Sittwe town of western Burma’s Arakan state.

The auction will be held on August 24, at the town’s Hall of Sittwe.

An official at the Sittwe Airport said, “The auction will include a license to run the ware houses. But those wanting to bid at the auction will have to deposit Kyat 1,500,000 (USD 1500 approximately). If they do not clinch the auction, they will get back the deposit but those who bid successfully will have to pay half the amount immediately.”

The aircraft that will be put on auction is the F-28, XY-ADW plane that crash landed in Sittwe airport on June 6. The aircraft flew in from Rangoon to Sittwe but crashed while landing at the Sittwe airport.

Besides, several unused ware houses will be auctioned. Most bidders are said to be interested in the ware houses rather than the frame of the aircraft.

The airport official told Mizzima that there are about 20 ware houses that will be put up for auction.

While the auction in Sittwe is being planned, authorities said they will also hold auctions for 57 state-owned business enterprises on September 22. Besides, 38 plots of land and buildings seized by the government will be auctioned on September 31 in Naypyitaw, Burma’s new jungle capital.
